Welcome in my new studio dedicated to newborn photography in Montreal

Saturday, December 10th, 2011

My home studio is ready to welcome parents and their new little treasure.

After some reflections on my photographic style in general, I completely changed the accessories I had for baby’s pictures and I chose to focus on natural lightning. The photos in natural light have always been my favorite. The accessories are now chosen for their texture in more sober colors to leave all the attention to the star of the day.

I know that small cute hates and poses on the hands are very popular, but I chose to be more in line with my personal style: Natural images, with a few simple accessories kept to the minimum. I chose to focus on this little being freshly arrived in the great world, on what makes him unique, to let him show us his own personality.

I chose to develop this small studio to make life easier for everyone. My home studio offers a beautiful natural light. Parents being at my home, I can afford to let them choose their favorite between all these accessories. It also allows me to control the room temperature so that a naked newborn is feeling comfortable. New parents only have to sit down on the couch and relax while I take charge of their little marvel.

I took some pictures last Sunday while waiting for Arielle to arrive. She officially inaugurate the new studio.

Welcome to my home!

{Léandre} newborn photography Montreal

Saturday, November 5th, 2011

This week, I continue to get up to date with my blogging of my newborn photo shoot.

I photographed Léandre in January. I was so honored when my best friend from high school contacted me to tell me that her lover and she chose me to capture the first days of their little boy. My friend and her boyfriend live in Kuujjuaq in the Great North of Quebec. Fortunately, she came in Sherbrooke to give birth, it is a bit closer to my place.

It was a pleasure to see my friend and her mother, whom I had not seen for many years. We laughed a good shot and complicity was there. It’s amazing to see how, after all these years, people do not really change.

Given the special nature of my relationship with Léandre’s mother, he got a nice little kit inspired by baby polar bears, made with my little fingers, to celebrate his arrival in the great world. I must admit that I like to crochet when I have a bit of time (which is increasingly rare). Is there a better gift than the one  done with our own hands?

{ the lost of a baby} _Montreal lifestyle photography

Friday, October 21st, 2011

Sometimes, one does not realize all the luck we have when things go as they should. I am fortunate, as a photographer, to accompany people in the happiest moments of their lives, but also in less happy times. To give back for all the lucky parents who come to me to photograph the first days of their newborn baby, I chose to offer two gift certificates to Parents Orphelins association to draw among their members. Parents Orphelins accompany parents with the loss of a baby.

Sandra contacted me at the moment she knew she was one of two winners. We met and we discussed the shoot in early summer, but she finally contacted me to tell me she was not ready and would rather wait until the fall. Fall is also the time of the year of the loss of her daughter and would be especially significant for her. Strangely, I also find it difficult to feel that session at that time. This happens almost never to me.

Therefore, we decided to meet for Thanksgiving weekend and it is a changed Sandra that I met. She seemed more relaxed. This time, I had a vision for this photo session that was very persistent. So I explained my idea of photographing Sandra while she will “pack” her memories. Was I really surprised to learn from her that she was now at this step of her griving process? So that’s what we did!

And to spoil her, we finished with a small lifestyle portrait session in her favorite park. It was a small gift only for her.

I must say I am very touched whenever I do photo shoots that go out of the ordinary. I have chosen a few years ago, to make emotions the main subject of my images and I thank the Universe every time a session like this occurs in my life. I sincerely hope that you will be equally affected by these images that I have been to make them.
