{waiting for Clara} newborn photography, Montreal

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

Here we are in 2012 my dear friends! First of all, my best wishes to all. May this New Year that begins be under the sign of health, happiness and, of course, love.

I decided to start 2012 with images of Karine’s maternity session done at the end of November. This is not the first time I photograph this beautiful little family. You met them in my article “Go habs go.” I think this mom (for the second time) is resplendent with beauty, but Karine doesn’t like being the center of attention. Especially when it comes to have her picture taken. However, she yielded to the temptation
of a maternity session to keep a great souvenir of this important milestone in a woman’s life. I chose to start with their photos in honor of the little princess who is in that round belly. This little girl decided to make me take a break from Christmas holidays by making her entrance into the great world a week earlier. … So here are my holiday vacations summarized:  time with my family, a few novels, some knitting, bubble baths … and newborn photo shoot.

This maternity session is a bit special. This is my first session entirely in Lifestyle photography. These images of pregnancy are more natural and certainly more dressed. A bit different from my maternity boudoir photo shoots. This time, in addition to keeping our clothes on, we even had the audacity to enjoy the mild temperatures for the season to go end this session outside.

I hope you enjoy as much in this new style

{Leo} newborn photography, Montreal

Friday, September 30th, 2011

Well! Today, I present a newborn session that I had completely forgotten to publish on the blog! I know this phrase comes up quite often.

Leo is the first child of my friend Virginie, who I went to College with and you had the pleasure to see her in a boudoir session done before her pregnancy. You even saw the father of Leo in the blog post “the boyfriend”.

Leo was only six days old when he arrived at my studio (which is the standard because I am photographing the newborns between 5 and 12 days). It does not show too much on the images but he was kind of awake. He was a real photographer gift! Despite the lack of sleep, mom and dad were in shape enough to join Leo for a few pictures of the brand new family.

I used to get inspired by each person I photograph to create unique images for everyone and newborn babies are no exception. For some reason, Leo has inspired me to go for darker colors than we usually see in newborn photography. Only time will tell if it reveals something about his personality! Maybe he will be really serious man, who knows!

I still had fun asking Mom and Dad to blow some bubbles, putting some magic in his  growing little world.

Princesses and the Kingdom of La Ronde, lifestyle children photography

Friday, May 13th, 2011

Sometimes we can be marked by the most unfortunate events in our life. It creates an association between the part of our lives when it comes to us and sad feelings that we felt at that moment. This is called a negative anchor. The opposite exists for positive events. Like when we link a certain type of food to our childhood, this food comforts us and cheers us up as an adult. This is called the “comfort food”.

In Neuro Linguistic Programming, we are told that if we associate a positive event with a weight equal to or higher than the negative event, this positive feelings will be “saved” by our brain and associated with this event, reducing or eliminating the trauma that would have been created by the negative event.

Why am I telling you all this? That’s what my friend Lucy and I have tried to do for these two beautiful little girls who had to live, like many others, their parents’ divorce. Rather than let them witness the moving, a special day has been concocted for them: a day of Princess at La Ronde. All this, of course, documented by your humble servant…me.

And here is the story of this wonderful day.

Once upon a time, there was two young girls living in a peaceful kingdom since birth. They had been held in secret their true nature: they were of royal blood and were the last heirs of a distant kingdom, the kingdom of La Ronde. Comes a morning when emissaries of the new kingdom, hitherto unknown, appeared at their door to introduce them into their new role as princess of the kingdom of La Ronde. Mom reassured them before departure, knowing how this adventure would be magical.

The day began with the preparation of the two young ladies. A princess must be style and dressed up accordingly to her rank …

without forgetting, of course, the crowning.

The arrival in their new kingdom took their breath away. A place of vibrant colors and sunshine where all games were allowed.

Then they were transported on big white steeds to go to the next stop of this journey: the royal banquet!

That let our two new princesses completely exhausted. Yes,, even princesses need to rest.
